SeriousB - Exclusive Features

Here is a list of SeriousB benefits and features rarely included in
popular programs designed for small business:

Drill-down

Many programs allow you to "drill-down" to source data when viewing
reports. SeriousB additionally drills-down to the original data-entry
screen where you can revise data, and essentially gives you the
convenience of editing with a spread-sheet program while retaining the
functionality of a database program. Additionally, you can run any
feature of the program from the drill-down window, as if it was a
second copy of the program, including looking up other records and
running reports.

Broadcast faxing

Many programs allow you to email invoices, statements, promo, etc. to
selected addresses in your database. However it is very unusual to
have integrated broadcast faxing as well. SeriousB allows you to email
or fax any reports or printouts, do both at the same time,
individually or to groups of addresses/fax numbers already in your
database. A convenient "mailfail" report lists any failed emails or
faxes, and allows you to email/re-fax to just those recipients.

Bill-paying

SeriousB offers a convenient popup to put any open payables invoices
on "hold" (or "hold" invoices back to "open"). As you change the
status, the total remaining "open" is shown. Then print checks
automatically to all vendors with invoices you left open, including
only the invoices you left open. Paying a certain $$ amount worth of
bills, and deciding which ones to pay was never easier!

Checking account

No need to post customer receipts as deposits to the checking account.
SeriousB assumes receipts are deposited anyway, so the bank statement
automatically includes them. Also a great way to verify that all
receipts were deposited when you reconcile your statement.

Import/Export

Few accounting packages allow you to import or export data in a
workable way, at least without buying expensive addon packages. In our
own opinion, this is purposely done to discourage you from switching
to other programs. (We know how to decode their data files anyway, so
it isn't a problem to switch to SeriousB.) But we are confident you'll
never switch from SeriousB! SeriousB easily imports and exports any
data in the universal and least problematic delimited format.

Account number/model number encoding

Most programs will sequence account numbers, some sequence model
numbers. SeriousB additionally will sequence abbreviated names. It
will sequence model numbers when you start them with your own defined
starting characters. It will make up date-encoded part or account
numbers, also sequencing these. Of course it also checks to prevent
duplications.

Change old records

Most programs do not allow you to change old records for accounting
reasons. SeriousB allows you to change or edit any data, anywhere,
anytime, no matter how old. To prevent accounting problems, a two-step
password scheme is provided. Only one person (who understands
accounting issues) has the master password, used to obtain the "day
code." The day code allows old records to be edited, but only during
the current day.

Change text on any report easily

SeriousB includes a report generator. You can make many simple changes
to reports with little or no reading of documentation. You can change
any text on reports simply by writing over it. Lets you easily change
messages on billing statements and invoices, for instance.

Maintaining inventory levels was never easier!

SeriousB offers self-correcting inventory levels by associating a date
with each part number counted. You can count one or all inventory
items at a time, and the computer will use that count from then on. By
"spot-checking" a small number of parts periodically, levels will
remain accurate and self-correcting regardless of various logistics
problems you may have in maintaining stock levels. Discrepancies can
be compiled into reports, etc. Of course you can use a scanner if
available.

Security/encryption

Any data-entry screens or reports containing associated data may be
password protected, including groups of same using the same password.
All reports "printed to file" containing password protected data are
encrypted automatically. You can also prevent designated network
stations from changing data.

Break-even report you can actually use!

SeriousB allows you to associate a percentage with each expense
account. The percentage tells SeriousB how much of the expense is a
"variable" cost (with sales). The Break Even report takes all this
into account, so that the break-even formula is based on actual fixed
vs. variable cost regardless of what you expense for tax purposes.

Loan schedules

SeriousB includes a tool to print reduction loan schedules like
mortgages and car loans. Also calculates payments, interest, and total
interest between periods.

Great looking graphs were never so easy

Nearly all programs include graphing ability. But with SeriousB you
can graph almost any report containing numbers or dollar amounts. One
mouse click and any report you have "printed to file" will be graphed
instead of printed. A few more mouse-clicks let you customize the
graph.

Single-entry accounting available

Like nearly all business programs, SeriousB offers double-entry
accounting by default. But single-entry accounting is available. We
need to set this up for you, but it is still a huge benefit for some
who understand accounting and seek the benefits of single-entry.

Don't like the way menus are worded?

SeriousB includes a "Menu Wizard" anyone can use to easily change the
wording of application menu selections. Use your own, less-confusing,
operator terminology.

Immediate bug fixing

This is truly unique. Our programmer's first priority is answering
email/calls concerning possible bugs, and you will never be kept
waiting on the phone. EVERY confirmed bug is fixed immediately and
made available on this web site, usually by the next day, and at no
charge. With SeriousB, there is no such thing as a bug, at least for
more than a day!

User revisable on any level

SeriousB includes a 600 page manual allowing non-programmers to revise
SeriousB applications on any level. We're not saying it doesn't take a
lot of time with the manual, experimenting, and reviewing the "set up"
of included applications. But it is possible and ultimately gives you
software independence. Any local programmer or computer expert able to
"program" spread-sheets (for instance) can take over support of your
application, regardless of what may happen to Micromiser, and that's a
lot less costly than switching to new software.

Auto-backups

Allows you to specify a location and day of the week on each network
station to make automatic backups. These are done in the background,
unseen, and do not interfere with operation (they automatically pause,
then resume when the station becomes idle again, for up to a week).
You wind up with backups all over the place! No Micromiser client has
ever lost data files with SeriousB, including those who neglect to do
backups (includes nearly everybody!).

Self-repairing database

SeriousB continually diagnoses and fixes any database faults. This is
unseen and done completely in the background, without affecting
operation. A report file is generated for any faults found and fixes
performed.

Real-time backups

This is completely separate from auto-backups. SeriousB makes
real-time backups of all data-entry, editing, and deleting as these
operations are performed, enabling the "Recover lost records" feature,
notifying you of any intentional deletes or changed invoice numbers (a
security feature), and providing the most complete audit trail
possible.

Remote operation

SeriousB allows you to run reports (and many other operations) at a
remote location just by sending a batch file over the modem containing
appropriate instructions. After enough time for the report(s) to run,
you can download it over the modem. PCAnywhere allows you to automate
the whole process. A great way to manage activities at several
branches.

Overcomes network faults

SeriousB includes several unique features to overcome network faults:
"Disallow share violations" prevents share violations regardless of
network faults.
Two work-arounds for the Windows XP/2000 "Oplocks" bug let you take
advantage of higher network speed on these systems.

Ramdrive support

If any network station is slow, you can set up a "ramdrive." Ramdrives
are free and included with Windows (including Windows XP - contact us
for details). SeriousB is designed to use ramdrives in numerous
functions, including automatic pre-loading for fast reports, lookup
lists, etc.
